The big Bike Night set for Feb. 10 may have moved back to its original location in Cape Coral but the regular cruise-in with its bike night component will give bikers a North Fort Myers option.

Rick Tupper, marketing director and CFO of the Shell Factory, said the attraction stepped in to pick up Cape Coral's Bike Night when it appeared that the city's streetscape project might mean the bash held on alternating months might to a no-go in February.

But the Cape worked out the details and Bike Night will remain at its original location along Southeast 47th Street so the Shell Factory is also keeping its original schedule of events.

"When they decided to do Bike Night, we just went back to doing our regular Bike Night on Feb. 15," Tupper said, adding the Shell Factory would not have done its regularly scheduled Bike Night had they hosted the one on Feb. 10.

The usual Shell Factory Bike Night, held the third Thursday of every month, is on schedule. That event, this month on Feb. 15, will start at 5 p.m., and will feature a live band. Hundreds of bikers are expected to come out for the popular event organizers say has tied in well with the Thursday night Cruise-In, which starts at 4 p.m.

Rolling in on the heels of a very successful Gumboils, Bike Night is one of many events coming to the Shell Factory in February.

The 13th annual Fossil Fest is set for Feb. 17, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

On Friday, Feb. 23, the famous Budweiser Clydesdales will make a stop at the Shell Factory as part of their tour of Southwest Florida, which will include being in the Edison Festival of Light Parade, a trip to 31 Produce and an open stable day at Legacy Equestrian Stables on Palm Creek Drive in North Fort Myers.

On Feb. 25, the North Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Taste of North Fort Myers at the Shell Factory, featuring the area's best restaurants serving up some of their best dishes.

More information on all these events will be available as the events draw close.

Regarding the Feb. 10 Bike Night in Cape Coral, according to city spokesperson Connie Barron, Cape Coral city staff met with representatives from Chris-Tel Construction to discuss options to enable the event to continue as scheduled. Chris-Tel agreed to modify its work plan to minimize interference with the event.

Barron said construction on Southeast 47th Terrace likely will necessitate the cancelation of the season's final Bike Night on April 14, the Cape's next turn for the event that alternates between the cities of Fort Myers and the Cape.

A final determination will be made in the near future.

Tupper said at this point he will not consider picking that event up if the city needs to opt out.

"Our Bike Night is the third Thursday of every month and that's set in stone," he said.
