On Sunday, some of the best work from the best artists in the Heron's Glen community will be on display to gaze at and even buy when the community holds its 20th annual Heron's Glen Fine Arts Show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the community's ballroom.

Art lovers will have the opportunity to meet and purchase directly from the talented artists who have worked with watercolor, oils, acrylics, pencil, photography, and several other medias of artwork, which will be for sale.

The show is put on every year by the Heron's Glen Artist Group, which has been around about as long as the show has.

The show originally was held outdoors but came inside soon after so weather wouldn't be a factor.

"We will have about 35 artists who will be represented there," said Gary Olson, vice president and who helped found the artist group in 1997 and started the art show shortly thereafter. "We will have juried contests in watercolor, oil and acrylic, as well as mixed media, such as photography. We're pretty limited to two-dimensional art."

Each artist is limited to three pieces that can be juried, which means that as many as 200 works will be in competition and you're only allowed one not-for-sale piece on display.

The show is put on every year by the Heron's Glen Artist Group, which is committed to providing growth opportunities for residents to develop their artistic interests in fine arts, to help artist members promote their work within the Fort Myers area, and to provide them with opportunities for artistic idea exchanges.

"We want to bring people in from Punta Gorda, Port Charlotte and the other neighborhoods in North Fort Myers," Olson said. "We usually get about 2,000 to 3,000 who come, a lot of which come from here and Del Tura and Magnolia Landing."
